Re-Certification: A Cost-Benefit Analysis

PIEK re-certification costs vary, depending on certain factors, e.g. whether:

  • a straightforward re-certification is needed,
  • refreshment / in-depth instruction is needed in a certain specialism;
  • the re-certification is effected via a regionally-organised programme or individually- arranged, on-site instruction.

The following example from daily workforce management demonstrates the benefits of re-certification for you and your company. During certification, an operator learns new technologies and procedures, implementing them successfully in his daily work processes. Nevertheless, experience shows that in the two-year period until re-certification, certain "old habits" (generally, outdated and inefficient methods) tend to reappear. These may subsequently prove cost-intensive, resulting in higher production losses, extra quality controls, possible repair costs, as well as additional personnel and material expenditure. In the last resort these may lead to delayed deliveries to your customers and employee frustration.
